It is a hostilic connection between the body ,the mind and spirit with the understanding that a healthy mind supports and a healthy body and a healthy body supports a healthy mind.
We can all make lifestyle choices that can minimise the risks for chronic diseases such as diabetes,heart diseases, cancer,hypertention and obesity. Smoking is one of the leading preventable causes of death which is followed by poor diet and inactivity. We can choose to follow a healthy lifestyle that would increase the quality and years of our lives.
A lifestyle based on good choices and healthy behaviours can maximise the quality of life. It helps prevent diseases, remain strong, fit and maintain our physical and mental health as long as we can live.
You have total control over your diet (what you consume daily) therfore you need to choose foods wisely to ensure maximum health.
The body requires protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water. A diet containing adequate amounts of all essential nutrients is vital because various nutrients provide energy, build and maintain body tissues and regulate body functions.
OBJECTIVES
-Promoting the consumers physical and mental make up and preventing non communicable diseases , disability or affliction ,our main goal is to lower the levels of individuals who suffer from hypertention, diabetes, cancer and obesity.
-Help change people's food choices.
-Teach people about the benefits of eating the 5 a day (2 fruits & 3vegetables).
-Help educate people on the risk and preventable measures of diabetes, obesity & heart diseases.
-Educate people on the importance of having a healthy body, mind and soul.
-Reduce the death rates from cancer, diabetes, heart disease & stroke.
-Minimise the outbreaks of certain diseases that are transmitted through food.
Increase the intakes of whole grains, fruit and vegetables for children aged 2 years and older as well as reduce intakes of added sugars and solid fats.
-Decrease the possibilities of FAS (fatal alcohol syndrome) in maternal, infants & child health.
-Lower the number of adolescents who have disordered eating habits in attempt to control their body weight
-Reduce the portions of children & adults who engage in no leisure-time physical activity.
